Careers Beyond Sixth Form
Nurturing Future Success
At Heathcote Sixth Form, our commitment to nurturing the future success of our pupils is evident through a range of initiatives designed to support their transition into higher education, apprenticeships, or employment. Personalised one-on-one careers guidance ensures that each pupil receives tailored advice, helping them explore diverse career paths and make informed decisions.
Our PIE focus lessons extends beyond the classroom, emphasising practical career development skills. Pupils engage in sessions that hone their abilities in creating quality CVs, mastering effective interview techniques, and cultivating the professional skills necessary for success in the workplace.
In Year 12, pupils gain hands-on experience through work placements, providing them with valuable insights into their chosen fields and enabling the application of theoretical knowledge in real-world settings. This exposure not only enhances their understanding of various professions but also helps them make informed decisions about their future career paths.
Heathcote Sixth Form values partnerships with leading companies, such as Zurich, which offers career mentorship to our pupils. These collaborations provide pupils with a unique opportunity to benefit from the experiences and insights of seasoned professionals, fostering a direct connection between classroom learning and real-world application.
As a result, Heathcote pupils are well-supported in their transition to higher education, apprenticeships, or employment. Many have successfully progressed to competitive Russell Group universities like Oxford and Cambridge, while others have secured apprenticeships with prominent companies such as TFL, Barratt, and Mace. Our holistic approach to preparing pupils for their future endeavours ensures they are well-equipped and confident as they step into the next chapter of their lives.
