Headteacher’s Statement
Headteacher Sonia Close said:
“We are particularly proud of the improvement in outcomes for our most able pupils this year, with many securing the very highest grades. With 29% of pupils achieving grades 7–9 in English compared to 19.5% nationally, and 25% of all grades across subjects at Grade 7+ against a national average of 23%, our young people have shown that they can compete at the very highest levels.”
“Our priority has been to raise standards across all subjects, with 18 of our 25 departments meeting our ambitious target of at least 70% achieving 9–4. These results give pupils the platform to pursue the A levels and career pathways of their choice. It is no surprise that so many are choosing to stay with us in Sixth Form, confident that they will continue to grow and succeed here.”
“These successes have only been possible thanks to the commitment of our staff, the dedication of the Head of Year and senior leadership team, and the invaluable partnership we have with our families. I feel incredibly proud to lead such a supportive and ambitious school community.” With many pupils now choosing to continue their journey at Heathcote Sixth Form, and following last week’s strong A-level results, the school is confident this year’s successes will lay the foundation for even greater achievements ahead.
